We measure 386 cities against 86 criteria and map 170 datasets across the UK — and we know exactly where both stop. The gaps are not places nothing is measured; they are places the measurement sits with somebody who has never been asked for it.

What a city measures about itself
Service coverage, energy and waste performance, transport and digital provision, governance and resilience — the things the ISO city standards ask for. Most useful where a city publishes in a national language, behind a portal, or only on paper: that is exactly where our mining finds nothing and records an absence.

What a country is physically made of
Networks, assets, capacity, condition and constraint — energy, water, transport, telecoms, flood, ground, heat. We hold 170 datasets for the UK and almost nothing for anywhere else, so a national layer for another country is worth more to us than a finer one here.

We keep a record of what we looked for and could not find, per city and per criterion. So if you tell us where you are, we can send you the list of things your city is currently scored as not publishing — before you decide whether any of this is worth your time.
Four ways this works, and none of them is the only one
How your data is sourced and what it earns are separate questions, and we are open on both. Say which of these is closest and we will work from there.

Free, and credited
Already open, or you want it to be. We ingest it, keep the licence with it, and name you as the source everywhere it appears — on the page, in the API and in the MCP tools.
SHARED REVENUE
A share of what it earns
Your data stays yours and we pay against the revenue it is part of — API and licence income attributed by use. We will show you the usage figures the split is computed from, because a share of a number you cannot see is not a deal.
LICENCE
A flat fee, or a term licence
Straightforward where the data is already a product. Tell us what it costs and what it may be used for, and we will tell you quickly whether it works at our scale.
SOMETHING ELSE
We are genuinely open on this
Exchange for coverage, a pilot before anything is signed, or an arrangement that suits a body which cannot take a payment at all. None of the above is a menu you have to pick from.
However it comes
The commonest reason a holder does not offer is a belief that their data is in the wrong shape to be wanted. It almost never is.
An API or a feed
We poll it on whatever cadence it changes.
A folder of files
CSV, GeoJSON, Parquet, Shapefile, GeoPackage, XLSX — or a database dump.
Documents
PDFs and reports are how most city data still arrives. We read them.
